Intra-Company Transfer (ICT)

The Intra-Company Transfer (ICT) program is a specialized immigration stream under Canada’s International Mobility Program (IMP), designed to support global businesses by allowing key employees of multinational companies to work at their Canadian branches. The ICT program facilitates the temporary transfer of qualified personnel from a foreign office to a Canadian location. There are three primary categories of ICT applicants:

One of the key advantages of the ICT program is that it does not require a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), which speeds up the application process. However, applicants must provide strong evidence of their role, experience, and relationship between the sending and receiving companies. Documentation such as job descriptions, organizational charts, and corporate records are crucial to demonstrate eligibility.

ICT permits are typically granted for an initial duration of one year, with extensions possible depending on the role and company operations in Canada. Executives and senior managers may qualify for a maximum of seven years, while specialized knowledge workers may be eligible for up to five years.
