Tajikistan to Canada Spousal Sponsorship
Last updated: January, 2026
Sponsoring a spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner from Tajikistan involves several country-specific requirements that apply across all partner categories. While the overall sponsorship process follows standard IRCC procedures, applications from Tajikistan receive closer scrutiny regarding travel history, military service, and employment records. Proper preparation of these documents is essential to avoid delays or additional document requests.
With accurate documentation and well-organized evidence, applicants can move through the sponsorship process smoothly and confidently. If at any point you feel unsure about a document or a specific step, our consultants are available to guide you and help avoid costly delays. From 2016 to 2024, our Canadian immigration consultants have supported many clients from Tajikistan in navigating Canada’s immigration pathways with care and precision. Country-Specific Documents
IRCC requires the following additional forms for residents of Tajikistan:
- Supplementary Information – Your Travels (IMM 5562): The principal applicant and all family members included in the application who are 18 years of age or older must complete this form, providing a detailed history of travel and residence.
Details of Military Service (IMM 5546): This form is mandatory for any applicant who has served in the military, defence forces, police units, or held a senior government position, including National Service. Applicants must submit copies of all pages of their military card or booklet, including blank pages, if applicable.
Other “Must-have” Documents
IRCC has issued specific document instructions for Tajikistan:
- Divorce Documents: If the applicant was divorced in Tajikistan, a copy of the decree absolute must be submitted.
- Labour Book or Workbook: The principal applicant and all accompanying family members 18 years of age or older who hold a Tajik passport must provide copies of all pages of their labour book or workbook. This document is used to verify employment history and periods of activity.
All documents must be clear, complete, and consistent with the information declared in the application. Any document not issued in English or French must be accompanied by a certified translation.
Biometrics
Most sponsored applicants from Tajikistan are required to provide biometrics (fingerprints and photo) after submitting the application. Once IRCC issues the Biometrics Instruction Letter, biometrics must be completed at an authorized Visa Application Centre within the required timeframe.
