Last updated: January, 2026
Sponsoring your spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner from Saudi Arabia? While the forms are standard, the Police Certificate process and Divorce Documents require careful attention.
From 2016 to 2025, we supported 604 clients from Saudi Arabia through the Canadian immigration process. If you’d like a full overview of spouse visa Canada, you can just book a consultation with our Canadian immigration experts. Also, you can check our Immigration Consultant Fees.
Country-Specific Documents
- Travel History (IMM 5562): Required for the principal applicant and all family members aged 18+.
- Military Service (IMM 5546): Mandatory if the applicant has held a high-ranking government position or served in the military, police, or National Guard.
- Requirement: Submit a full copy of the military card or booklet, including all blank pages.
Required Civil Documents
IRCC has a specific rule for divorce documents from Saudi Arabia.
- Divorce Documents: If you were divorced in Saudi Arabia, do not just submit the initial court order. You must submit a copy of:
- The “Final Irrevocable Divorce”; or
- The “Final Divorce Judgment.”
Police Certificates (PCC)
- If you currently live in Saudi Arabia: You can usually request the Police Clearance Certificate via the Absher app or website.
- If you have LEFT Saudi Arabia: This is difficult. You cannot obtain the certificate directly.
- Strategy: You generally need a Request Letter from IRCC first. Submit your application without the certificate, include a Letter of Explanation stating you need an IRCC request letter to apply at the Saudi Embassy, and wait for their instruction.
Translation Requirements
If any document is not in English or French, include:
- the original document (or required certified copy), plus
- a certified translation
Make sure names, dates, and document details match exactly between the original and the translation.
