Niger to Canada Spousal Sponsorship

Last updated: January, 2026

Sponsor spouse or partner from Niger to Canada

Sponsoring a spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner from Niger involves several country-specific requirements that apply across all partner categories. While the core sponsorship process remains the same, IRCC places particular emphasis on travel history, military service disclosure, and civil documentation for applicants from Niger. Preparing these elements carefully is essential for a smooth application process.

With accurate documentation and well-organized evidence, applicants can move through the sponsorship process smoothly and confidently. If at any point you feel unsure about a document or a specific step, our consultants are available to guide you and help avoid costly delays. From 2016 to 2024, our Canadian immigration consultants have supported many clients from Niger in navigating Canada’s immigration pathways with care and precision. You can book a consultation for personalized guidance or review our Immigration Consultant Prices to compare packages and choose the level of support that fits your needs. IRCC requires additional forms for residents of Niger:

  • Supplementary Information – Your Travels (IMM 5562): The principal applicant and all family members included in the application who are 18 years of age or older must complete this form to provide a detailed record of travel and residence history.

Details of Military Service (IMM 5546): This form is mandatory for any applicant who has served in the military, defence forces, police units, or held a senior government position. Applicants must submit copies of all pages of their military card or booklet, including blank pages, if applicable.

IRCC has issued specific instructions for civil documents from Niger. If a child’s birth certificate was not issued at the time of birth, applicants must provide additional supporting documentation, which may include:

  • A supplementary judgment

  • Another official document identifying the parents

  • School records listing the parents (or a written explanation if unavailable)

  • The household registry

All documents must be clear, complete, and consistent with the information declared in the application. Any document not issued in English or French must be accompanied by a certified translation

Most sponsored applicants from Niger are required to provide biometrics (fingerprints and photo) after submitting the application. Once IRCC issues the Biometrics Instruction Letter, biometrics must be completed at an authorized Visa Application Centre within the specified timeframe.
