Kenya to Canada Spousal Sponsorship

Sponsoring your spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner from Kenya? While the process is standard, the Nairobi Visa Office is strict about Identity Photos and Marriage Registration.

Country-Specific Documents

Travel History (IMM 5562): Required for the principal applicant and all family members aged 18+.
Military Service (IMM 5546): Required if the applicant has served in the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), National Police Service, or held a senior government position.
- Requirement: Submit a copy of all pages of the military/service card or booklet, including blank pages.

Kenya is one of the few countries where IRCC still requests additional physical photos.

Requirement: Unlike standard applications that require fewer photos, residents of Kenya must submit 3 additional photos per person, for a total of five photos for the applicant and each dependent.

Required Civil Documents

Standard: Submit your Marriage Certificate.
Crucial Detail: Ensure your marriage is properly registered with the Registrar of Marriages (Sheria House). If you had a customary marriage, you must provide the Certificate of Marriage issued by the Registrar to be safe (not just an affidavit).

Police Certificates (PCC)

Requirement: Applicants aged 18+ must provide a Police Clearance Certificate (also known as the Certificate of Good Conduct).
Issuing Authority: This is issued by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
Process: You must apply via the eCitizen portal, but you must also visit a DCI center or Huduma Centre for fingerprinting.
