  • Travel History (IMM 5562): Required for the principal applicant and all family members aged 18+.
  • Military Service (IMM 5546): Required if applicable.

In Gambia, birth certificates are often issued late. IRCC scrutinizes these closely.

  • If the birth certificate was NOT issued at the time of birth: You cannot simply submit the certificate. You must also provide:
    • The Supplementary Judgment or an attestation from the Alkalo (Village Head) countersigned by the Area Council.
    • Secondary Proof: School records, baptismal certificates, or a Health Card (Clinic Card) that lists the parents.
  • Requirement: Applicants aged 18+ must provide a Police Clearance Certificate.
  • Issuing Authority: This is issued by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) at the Police Headquarters in Banjul.
  • Process: This typically requires a set of fingerprints.

No Translations Needed: Since English is the official language of the Gambia, your civil documents generally do not require translation.

If any document is not in English or French, include:

  • the original document (or required certified copy), plus
  • a certified translation

Make sure names, dates, and document details match exactly between the original and the translation.
