Gabon to Canada Spousal Sponsorship

Last updated: January, 2026

Sponsor spouse or partner from Gabon to Canada

Sponsoring a spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner from Gabon involves additional country-specific requirements that apply across all partner categories. While the overall sponsorship framework is the same, IRCC requires extra background forms and specific civil documentation from Gabonese applicants, making careful preparation essential.

With accurate documentation and well-organized evidence, applicants can move through the sponsorship process smoothly and confidently. If at any point you feel unsure about a document or a specific step, our consultants are available to guide you and help avoid costly delays. From 2016 to 2024, our Canadian immigration consultants have supported many clients from Gabon in navigating Canada’s immigration pathways with care and precision. You can book an appointment for personalized guidance or review our Immigration Consultant Fees to compare packages and choose the level of support that fits your needs. IRCC requires the following additional forms for residents of Gabon:

  • Supplementary Information – Your Travels (IMM 5562):
The principal applicant and all family members aged 18 or older must complete this form.

Details of Military Service (IMM 5546):
Required for anyone who has served in the military, police, defence units, or held a senior government position. Applicants must submit a full copy of the military card or booklet, including blank pages, if applicable.

IRCC issues specific instructions for birth certificates from Gabon, particularly when a child’s birth was not registered at the time of birth. In such cases, applicants must submit supporting documents, which may include:

  • A supplementary judgment
  • Another official document naming the parents
  • School records listing the parents (or a written explanation if unavailable)
  • The household registry

All documents must be clear, complete, and consistent with the information declared in the application. Any document not issued in English or French must be accompanied by a certified translation.

Most sponsored applicants from Gabon are required to provide biometrics (fingerprints and photo) after submitting the application. Once IRCC issues the Biometrics Instruction Letter, biometrics must be completed at an authorized Visa Application Centre within the required timeframe.
