Finland to Canada Spousal Sponsorship
Last updated: January, 2026
Sponsoring your spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner from Finland? While the process is streamlined, the London Visa Office expects specific Civil Registration extracts.
From 2016 to 2025, we supported 119 clients from Finland through the Canadian immigration process. If you’d like a full overview of spouse visa Canada, you can just book a consultation with our Canadian immigration representatives. Also, you can check our Immigration Consultant Prices.
Country-Specific Documents
Travel History (IMM 5562): We strongly recommend completing this form for the principal applicant and all family members aged 18+.
Required Civil Documents
Finland does not typically issue “birth certificates” or “marriage certificates” in the traditional sense.
- Requirement: You must submit an Extract from the Population Information System issued by the Digital and Population Data Services Agency (DVV).
- Tip: You can order this extract in English directly from the DVV website. Ensure you request the version that includes “all family relations” to prove parentage and marital status.
Police Certificates (PCC)
- Requirement: Applicants aged 18+ must provide a Criminal Record Extract.
- Issuing Authority: This is issued by the Legal Register Centre (Oikeusrekisterikeskus).
- Process: You can apply online via the LRC electronic service. Request the English version to save on translation costs.
Translation Requirements
Request your DVV Extract and Police Certificate in English directly from the authorities.
If any document is not in English or French, include:
- the original document (or required certified copy), plus
- a certified translation
Make sure names, dates, and document details match exactly between the original and the translation.
