Denmark to Canada Spousal Sponsorship
Last updated: January, 2026
Sponsoring your spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner from Denmark? While the process is streamlined, the London Visa Office expects specific Civil Registration extracts.
From 2016 to 2025, we supported 98 clients from Denmark through the Canadian immigration process. If you’d like a full overview of spouse sponsorship Canada, you can just book a consultation with our Canadian immigration representatives. Also, you can check our Immigration Consultant Fees.
Country-Specific Documents
Travel History (IMM 5562): We strongly recommend completing this form for the principal applicant and all family members aged 18+.
Required Civil Documents
Denmark does not use traditional birth certificates.
- Requirement: You must submit a Personattest (Certificate of Personal Data) issued by the Civil Registration System (CPR).
- Marriage: Submit the Marriage Certificate (Vielsesattest).
- Tip: You can often order these in English directly from Borger.dk using your NemID/MitID, saving you translation costs.
Police Certificates (PCC)
- Requirement: Applicants aged 18+ must provide a Criminal Record Certificate.
- Issuing Authority: This is issued by the Danish National Police (Rigspolitiet).
- Process: You can apply online via the Police website. Request the certificate in English/German/French to avoid translation fees.
Translation Requirements
Request your Personattest and Straffeattest in English directly from the authorities.
If any document is not in English or French, include:
- the original document (or required certified copy), plus
- a certified translation
Make sure names, dates, and document details match exactly between the original and the translation.
