Central African Republic to Canada Spousal Sponsorship

Last updated: January, 2026

Sponsor spouse or partner from Central African Republic to Canada

Sponsoring your spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner from the Central African Republic (CAR)? The documentation process here is rigorous. The Dakar Visa Office has specific mandates for Forms and Late Birth Registrations.

From 2016 to 2025, we supported 93 clients from Central African Republic through the Canadian immigration process. If you’d like a full overview of Canada immigration spouses, you can just book a consultation with our Licensed immigration consultants. Also, you can check our Immigration Consultant Cost

For CAR residents, two forms are always required, regardless of your background.

  • Travel History (IMM 5562): Mandatory for the principal applicant and all family members aged 18+.
  • Military Service (IMM 5546): Mandatory if the applicant has held a high-ranking government position or served in the military, police, defence, or National Service.
    • Requirement: Submit a full copy of the military card or booklet, including all blank pages.

IRCC is extremely strict about birth certificates not issued at the time of birth.

  • Requirement: If the birth certificate was issued late, you cannot just submit the certificate. You must provide:
    • The Supplementary Judgment (Jugement Supplétif);
    • Another official document naming the parents;
    • School documents listing the parents (or a written explanation if unavailable); OR
    • The Household Registry.
  • Requirement: Applicants aged 18+ must provide the Extrait de Casier Judiciaire (Bulletin No. 3).
  • Issuing Authority: Issued by the Ministry of Justice or the Court of First Instance (Tribunal de Grande Instance).

No Translations Needed: Official documents from CAR are issued in French. Since French is an official language of Canada, these documents are accepted as is. You do not need to translate them.

However, if any document is not in English or French, include:

  • the original document (or required certified copy), plus
  • a certified translation

Make sure names, dates, and document details match exactly between the original and the translation.
