Armenia to Canada Spousal Sponsorship

Sponsoring your spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner from Armenia? While the process is standard, the responsible Visa Office (typically Moscow or Rome) has unique requirements regarding Employment Records and Divorce Documents.

Country-Specific Documents

Travel History (IMM 5562): Required for the principal applicant and all family members aged 18+.
Military Service (IMM 5546): Mandatory for anyone who has served in the military, police, defence forces, or held a government position.

Requirement: You must submit a full copy of the Military Booklet (Zinvorakan Girk), including all blank pages.

Required Civil Documents

IRCC has very specific document requests for Armenian applicants that do not apply to other countries.

Labour Book (Ashkhatankayin Grkuyk): The principal applicant and all family members aged 18+ who hold an Armenian passport must submit a copy of all pages of their Labour Book or workbook.
- Note: This applies even for spousal sponsorship, which is unique to Armenia.
Divorce Documents: If you got a divorce in Armenia, the checklist asks for a “decree absolute.”

Pro Tip: In Armenia, this corresponds to the Certificate of Divorce issued by the Civil Status Acts Registration Agency (ZAGS). Do not submit the court judgment alone; ensure you have the final certificate.

Police Certificates (PCC)

Requirement: Applicants aged 18+ must provide a Certificate of No Criminal Record.
Issuing Authority: This is issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Consular Department) or the Police of the Republic of Armenia.
Process: You can apply online via the e-request system or in person at the MFA in Yerevan.
