Peru to Canada Spousal Sponsorship
Applicants applying for spousal sponsorship from Peru must follow the country-specific IRCC instructions alongside the standard sponsorship application checklist. These instructions identify the additional forms and supporting documents that may be required for an application involving Peruvian nationals.
For Peru applicants, the requirements include Details of Military Service (IMM 5546) for certain applicants with a senior government, military, defence, police, or National Service history, as well as military card or booklet copies where applicable. Applicants married in Peru and divorced outside Peru must also follow the divorce-validation instruction.
Country-Specific Documents
Applicants from Peru must follow the IRCC country-specific spousal sponsorship instructions for Peru.
Peru-specific additional form:
- Details of Military Service (IMM 5546), PDF form
IMM 5546 must be completed for anyone included in the application who has ever:
- held a high-ranking or senior official government position
- served in the military, army, defence, or police unit, including National Service
If this requirement applies, applicants must also submit a copy of every page of the person’s military card or booklet, including pages with no entries.
Divorce Documents
If an applicant was married in Peru and divorced outside Peru, they must validate the divorce in Peru if they want to remarry there.
Peru to Canada Study Permit
IRCC does not currently provide a separate Peru-specific study permit checklist, visa office checklist, or local document instructions. Applicants from Peru should therefore follow the standard IRCC study permit requirements and provide all supporting documents relevant to their studies, finances, and individual circumstances.
IRCC statistics show continued interest in Canadian education among Peruvian citizens. 1,670 study permits were issued in 2021, 3,180 in 2022, 3,175 in 2023, 2,585 in 2024, and 2,135 in 2025. An additional 930 study permits were recorded from January to June 2026.
These figures reflect the established presence of Peruvian students in Canada’s international education system. Applicants should ensure that their study plans, financial resources, and supporting documents are clearly presented and meet all applicable IRCC requirements.
Peru to Canada Visitor Visa
IRCC does not provide a separate document checklist for Canadian visitor visa applicants from Peru. Applicants should therefore follow the standard IRCC visitor visa requirements and submit the supporting documents requested through their online application.
IRCC recorded 12,670 visitor visas for Peru in 2023, 13,205 in 2024, and 11,485 in 2025, followed by 7,835 from January to June 2026.
A Canadian visitor visa can allow eligible Peruvian travellers to visit Canada temporarily for purposes such as tourism, visiting family or friends, or certain business activities. The supporting documents required will depend on the applicant’s individual circumstances, purpose of travel, financial situation, and plans for their temporary stay in Canada.
