Kuwait to Canada Spousal Sponsorship

Last updated:
Sponsor spouse or partner from Kuwait to Canada

Sponsoring your spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner from Kuwait? This is a high-complexity region handled by the Abu Dhabi Visa Office (or Ankara). The forms are mandatory, and obtaining a Police Certificate can be extremely difficult if the applicant has already left the country.

From 2016 to 2025, we supported 153 clients from Kuwait through the Canadian immigration process. If you’d like a full overview of spouse sponsorship Canada, you can just book a consultation with our Licensed immigration consultants. Also, you can check our Immigration Consultant Fees

Kuwait has explicit triggers for additional forms.

  • Travel History (IMM 5562): Mandatory. The principal applicant and all family members aged 18+ must complete this form.
  • Military Service (IMM 5546): Mandatory if the applicant has held a high-ranking government position or served in the military, police, or National Service.
    • Requirement: Submit a copy of all pages of the military card or booklet, including blank pages.
  • Divorce: If you got a divorce in Kuwait, IRCC is very specific. You must submit a copy of:
    • The “Final Irrevocable Divorce”; or
    • The “Final Divorce Judgment.”
    • Warning: A revocable divorce (first/second Talaq) is often not accepted until it is finalized.
  • Requirement: Applicants aged 18+ must provide a Non-Conviction Certificate.
  • If you are in Kuwait: You can apply via the Ministry of Interior (General Department of Criminal Evidence) or the Sahel app. Requires fingerprints.
  • If you have LEFT Kuwait: This is a major hurdle. You generally need a Request Letter from the Canadian Embassy to apply.
    • Strategy: Submit your application without the certificate, include a Letter of Explanation asking IRCC for a request letter, and wait for their instruction.
