These instructions are listed in the Ankara Visa Office Additional Document Checklist — IMM 5816, which is used together with the standard Canada study permit checklist.
For Georgia applicants, IMM 5816 focuses on the supporting documents that help show academic readiness, language preparation, study purpose, and recent work history. It does not create a separate study permit process, but it does set out additional document expectations for applications submitted under the Ankara visa office instructions.

Personal Statement
Georgia applicants must include a one-page personal statement. This statement should explain how the proposed Canadian study program fits the applicant’s academic background and future career plans.
A strong personal statement should clearly connect:
- the applicant’s previous studies;
- the Canadian program they plan to take;
- the applicant’s career goals after completing the program.
The statement should be specific to the applicant’s situation. It should explain why the study plan makes sense academically and professionally, rather than giving a general explanation of why Canada is a good study destination.
Work Documents
Applicants from Georgia who have worked in the last three years should include documents showing their work history.
Employed applicants must provide detailed employment letters that include:
- the period of employment;
- the position held;
- salary;
- job responsibilities.
Self-employed applicants must provide documents that may include:
- income statements;
- proof of business;
- trade licence;
- description of business activities;
- contracts or similar business records.
These documents help support the applicant’s personal history and show how their recent work experience connects to the overall study permit application.
Georgia to Canada Visitor Visa
Applicants applying for a Canada visitor visa from Georgia may need to follow the Ankara visa office instructions for local document requirements. These instructions are listed in the Ankara Visa Office Instructions — IMM 5855, which is used together with the standard temporary resident visa checklist.
For Georgia applicants, IMM 5855 does not identify any separate Georgia-specific documents, local authority records, country-specific forms, or Georgia-only submission requirements.
Visa Office Instructions

Financial and Occupational Evidence
Georgia visitor visa applicants should provide documents showing their financial circumstances and current occupation.
Financial evidence should include bank statements covering the previous six months. Applicants may also provide documents showing other assets or sources of income.
If another person, organization or host in Canada is paying for the visit, the application should include:
- a signed letter confirming the financial support;
- evidence that the person or organization has sufficient funds;
- an explanation of the relationship between the applicant and the person providing support; and
- details of the expenses that will be covered.
Applicants should also provide evidence of their current activity, as applicable:
- employees should provide a letter confirming their position, salary, length of employment and approved leave;
- self-employed applicants should provide business registration, tax and financial records;
- retired applicants should provide pension evidence; and
- students should provide proof of current enrolment.
Applicants who are not Georgian citizens should also provide proof of their lawful status in Georgia.
Returning Students and Workers
Applicants returning to Canada to continue their studies should provide:
- a recent letter from the Canadian educational institution confirming that they are in good standing; and
- recent academic transcripts.
Applicants returning to Canada to continue working should provide a recent letter from their Canadian employer confirming:
- that their employment will continue; and
- the expected duration of the employment.
Business and Hosted Visits
Business visitors should provide:
- a letter from their employer explaining the purpose and expected duration of the trip, identifying the Canadian companies or organizations involved and confirming who will pay the travel expenses; and
- an invitation letter from the Canadian business or organization describing the planned activities and the relationship between the parties.
Applicants visiting family members, friends or other hosts in Canada should provide:
- an invitation letter explaining the purpose and expected duration of the visit;
- proof of the host’s immigration status in Canada; and
- details of any accommodation or financial support the host will provide.
