Croatia to Canada Spousal Sponsorship

Last updated:

Sponsor spouse or partner from Croatia to Canada

Sponsoring a spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner from Croatia is generally a straightforward process, as IRCC does not impose extensive country-specific documentation. However, Croatia is one of the countries where military service history can trigger an additional mandatory form, making this an important detail to assess early in the application.

With accurate documentation and well-organized evidence, applicants can move through the sponsorship process smoothly and confidently. If at any point you feel unsure about a document or a specific step, our consultants are available to guide you and help avoid costly delays. From 2016 to 2024, our Canadian immigration consultants have supported 77 clients from Croatia in navigating Canada’s immigration pathways with care and precision. If you’d like a full overview of spouse sponsorship Canada, you can just book a consultation with our Canadian immigration representatives. Also, you can check our Immigration Consultant Cost

IRCC requires Details of Military Service (IMM 5546) for Croatian applicants only if the principal applicant served in the military between 1991 and 1995 or in 1999.
If applicable, the applicant must submit:

  • A fully completed IMM 5546 form
  • Copies of all pages of the military booklet, including blank pages

Applicants who did not serve during these periods are not required to complete this form.

There are currently no special document instructions issued by IRCC for Croatia. Standard civil documents—such as marriage certificates, birth certificates, or divorce records—must be clear, complete, and consistent with the information declared in the application. Any document not issued in English or French must be accompanied by a certified translation.

Most sponsored applicants from Croatia will be required to provide biometrics (fingerprints and photo) after submitting the application. Once IRCC issues the Biometrics Instruction Letter, biometrics must be completed at an authorized Visa Application Centre within the required timeframe.
