In the ever-evolving landscape of global migration, the Permanent Residence Pathways for Hong Kong Residents stand as a testament to Canada’s commitment to providing a secure and welcoming home for those seeking new opportunities. As socio-political dynamics shift, these pathways serve as a beacon, offering a stable and promising future for Hong Kong residents.

Designed to facilitate a smooth transition to permanent residence, these pathways recognize the unique skills, experiences, and contributions that Hong Kong residents bring to Canada. Whether through educational achievements, professional expertise, or entrepreneurial spirit, the pathways aim to create a bridge to lasting residency for those seeking refuge and a fresh start. This public policy will be available from June 1, 2021, to August 31, 2026.

There are two streams that candidates may be eligible to apply to:

  • Stream A: In-Canada Graduates
  • Stream B: Canadian Work Experience

The objective of these measures is to provide a supportive and inclusive environment for individuals affected by the changes in Hong Kong, allowing them to build a new life in Canada. The programs aim to attract individuals with valuable skills, education, and work experience to contribute to Canada’s diverse and thriving communities.

You can also explore other immigration pathways more suited to each particular situation. All of our fees and packages are also available!

Eligibility criteria may vary depending on the specific pathway. Generally, individuals with skills, education, and work experience may be eligible. Open work permit holders, graduates, and skilled workers could explore these pathways.

An open work permit allows Hong Kong residents to work for any employer in Canada. It is one of the measures introduced to support individuals affected by changes in Hong Kong.

In many cases, yes. Spouses, common-law partners, and dependent children may be included in the application. However, specific requirements and eligibility criteria may apply.

Language proficiency requirements may vary. Some pathways may require individuals to demonstrate proficiency in English or French. The Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) or Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) scales are commonly used for language assessment.

Some pathways may prioritize individuals with Canadian post-secondary education credentials, considering it as a valuable asset. The credential often demonstrates an individual’s adaptability to the Canadian educational system.

The pathways often focus on skilled workers, graduates, and professionals. While entrepreneurial pathways may exist through other immigration streams, individuals with business backgrounds should explore specific business immigration programs.
